What these Beaumont systems have in common
Beaumont systems here run larger on average than the Edmonton ones — most fall between 11 kW and 16 kW, which is roughly 25 to 35 modules. That is a function of the housing stock: newer builds on bigger lots with more unbroken south and west roof area, and enough electrical service behind them to carry it. The smallest two systems on this list, at 4.55 kW and 4.92 kW, are the exception rather than the rule.
The module on the recent installs is the LONGi LR7-54HGBB-450M, a 450-watt panel. Inverters step up with system size: a 6 kW SolarEdge Wave on the 5.85 kW system, a 10 kW SolarEdge Hub on the 13.05 kW, and an 11.4 kW SolarEdge Hub on the 15.75 kW. All of them use per-panel optimisers, so one shaded module does not drag down the rest of its string.

How a Beaumont install actually runs
The photographs tell you what the finished array looks like. They do not tell you what the weeks before it looked like, so here is the sequence every Beaumont system on this page went through.
Site assessment and design. Roof measurements, pitch and azimuth, rafter spacing, shingle condition and the size of the existing electrical service. The service size is what caps the system, not the roof.
FortisAlberta micro-generation application. Beaumont is FortisAlberta, not EPCOR — a point worth knowing because the paperwork and the timelines differ from Edmonton even though the town is twenty minutes away. The application goes in before anything is mounted.
City of Beaumont electrical permit. Pulled by us, under our licence, not by the homeowner.
Install. Racking, flashing at every roof penetration, modules, inverter, and the AC run to the panel. A residential system of this size is usually one to two days on the roof.
Inspection and FortisAlberta meter change. The electrical inspection comes first, then FortisAlberta swaps the meter for one that measures in both directions. The system does not legally produce until that swap is done.

Newer Beaumont builds tend to have more unbroken south and west roof area and a 200-amp service behind them, and the service size is the harder limit on any solar system. The two smallest here, 4.55 kW and 4.92 kW, are the exception.

FortisAlberta. Beaumont is twenty minutes from Edmonton but it is not in EPCOR territory, and that changes who reviews your interconnection and who swaps your meter — not the install itself, but the paperwork and the timelines around it. Your electricity retailer is a separate question and does not affect the process. The same is true of Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Sturgeon County and Leduc.

The install itself is usually one to two days on the roof for a residential system this size. The calendar time is dominated by two queues we do not control: the FortisAlberta micro-generation application, which goes in before anything is mounted, and the FortisAlberta meter change after the electrical inspection passes. The system is not legally allowed to produce until that meter swap happens. Plan on several weeks end to end, and treat anyone quoting a same-week turnaround with suspicion.

Ask us and we will try to arrange it. We will not hand out a homeowner’s address without asking them first, so it depends on who nearby is willing — but Beaumont is a small enough town that with ten documented systems here there is usually someone on a comparable roof. A drive-by of a finished array tells you more about flashing and racking neatness than any brochure will.

Much the same, which is the point of photographing them. The modules are rated to IEC 61215 for hail and load, the racking is engineered for snow load, and a panel at a normal roof pitch sheds snow on its own once the sun gets to it — glass is slicker than shingles. What matters more than the panels is the flashing at every roof penetration, because that is what leaks if it is done carelessly. Look closely at the mounting detail in these photographs; that is the part a homeowner cannot inspect from the ground later.

A City of Beaumont electrical permit is pulled under our licence before work starts, and a FortisAlberta micro-generation application goes in for the interconnection — FortisAlberta confirms the system meets the micro-generation regulation and that the local circuit can accept it. After the install the electrical inspection has to pass, and then FortisAlberta changes the meter to one that measures in both directions.
