How we work it out
The calculator starts from what you use and prices it like the homes we’ve actually installed.
- 1
Your usage sets the size
We size systems to cover about a year of your electricity. On a typical roof, each kW covers about 940 kWh a year.
- 2
Past jobs set the price
We priced 53 standard roof-mounted homes we sold from August 2025 to September 2026, using what customers actually signed.
- 3
The range keeps it honest
About 3 in 4 of those homes landed inside the range this calculator would have shown them.
What moves your price
How much power you use
A bigger bill means a bigger system. Your usage is the biggest driver of the price.
Your roof
A roof facing east or west, or one with shade, needs more panels to make the same power. That’s why the size shows a range.
Your electrical panel
About 4 in 10 homes we’ve installed needed an electrical upgrade. If yours does, plan on about $4,500 more. You don’t need to know ahead of time. We check it from a photo of your panel.
Not included: batteries, ground mounts, EV chargers, incentives and financing. Ask us about any of those.

Questions people ask
How much does solar cost for a home near Edmonton?
Over the past year, half the roof-mounted homes we sold (no battery) came in between about $22,000 and $40,000, including GST. The typical one was about $28,500. Your usage, roof and electrical panel decide where yours lands.
Is this a quote?
No. It’s a range based on our past jobs. Your quote comes after we see your bills, your roof and your electrical panel.
Why is the price a range?
Homes that use the same power still need different systems. Roof direction and shade change how many panels it takes, and no two roofs install quite the same. About 3 in 4 homes we’ve installed landed inside the range the calculator shows. Your design confirms your price.
Does the price include GST?
Yes. The range includes 5% GST and the provincial recycling fee of $14 per panel.
Do I need an electrical panel upgrade?
You don’t need to know before you ask for a price. About 4 in 10 homes we’ve installed needed one, at about $4,500 more including GST. We check it from a photo of your panel and confirm it in your design.
What will I save?
That depends on your rate plan and when you use power through the day and the year. We work it out from your real bills instead of guessing.
Are there incentives or financing?
Program availability changes. Ask us and we’ll confirm what applies to you.
Do you do farms and businesses?
Yes. Farm, shop and commercial systems are priced site by site. See farm and acreage solar or commercial solar.
